Imagine how much simpler things would be if everything happened automatically – your dishwasher could empty itself, your laundry could be folded before you got home from work, and dinner could be cook itself. While not all of this is possible, F.C. Haab can make sure your oil storage tank is always full with automatic heating oil delivery! With automatic delivery, you’ll no longer have to worry as much about monitoring your fuel level or calling to schedule deliveries. We’ll check your home’s past usage and set up a custom delivery schedule that suits your family’s home-heating needs! If the weather happens to get even colder, we’ll adjust your delivery schedule to accommodate it. Milder weather will result in fewer deliveries as well. By helping to prevent your tank from running empty, you can help to prevent the accumulation of water or formation of sludge – both of which can result in breakdowns and costly repairs down the line. Let F.C. Haab take care of your fueling needs. Automatic delivery puts your comfort in our hands, and that’s where it belongs! We can keep you and your family warm as the temperature begins to drop in the fall and plunge in the winter. You can focus on the other household chores; we’ll help where we can! Contact F.C. It’s a common misconception that the bigger the heating equipment, the better it is for heating up your home. Selecting the right-sized system for your home should be done by a professional who understands how size can affect the efficiency and quality of the heating system. Here are a few areas that can suffer if a system isn’t properly sized: Temperature: Over-sized heating equipment will heat a space up very quickly, and while this may seem ideal on a freezing winter night, it will only result in uneven temperatures throughout the home. Some rooms may be overly warm while others are on the cooler side because the system cycles for a shorter period of time, not allowing it to reach optimal temperature throughout the space. Noise: Larger systems can be loud, especially in a small space! This is caused by your heating equipment constantly starting up as it cycles more frequently, which also requires more fuel. Finances: Not only do over-sized heating systems cost more to install due to the size of the equipment, but they also burn through much more fuel…and your energy budget! F.C. Haab performs heating system evaluations to make sure that your heating equipment is sized appropriately for your living space and to catch other potential problems as well throughout the system. If you’re considering an upgrade to your heating system before the cold weather returns, contact F.C. Haab and we’ll show you the best options for your home....

The mid-summer heat can be brutal, especially when your air conditioner isn’t providing your home with proper relief. Just because your system is running, doesn’t mean it’s working as well as it should. You may need to consider a system upgrade, or it might just need a simple repair. But how can you know which? There are many components to an air conditioning system, any of which can cause issues that aren’t noticeable until your air conditioner is blowing warm air or re-circulating dust throughout the home. Don’t wait until your system breaks down to purchase a new one, and don’t wait until you’re experiencing serious problems to have your air conditioner looked at by a professional. F.C. Haab offers AC evaluations, where we inspect every element of your air conditioning system to locate the problems. The inspection includes an examination of the fan motor, compressor, evaporator and refrigerant charge, ensures proper lubrication of moving parts, and notes any physical damage to the equipment and ductwork. Our technicians can review the findings with you, and go over your repair or replace options. If your air conditioning system’s evaluation recommends an upgrade, F.C. Haab will help you find the high-efficiency air conditioner that will provide your family with greater comfort while using less energy, from top manufacturers like Bryant and Carrier. If your system isn’t keeping up with the demands of your home, contact F.C. Haab and set up an evaluation and get started being cool and comfortable today....

F.C. Haab makes purchasing your new central air conditioner for the summer easy with top-quality products from Carrier. More specifically, Carrier’s variable speed air conditioners offer accurate and efficient comfort during the hottest days, while saving you money on energy costs. Here’s why a variable speed air conditioner may be the perfect choice for you: By increasing and decreasing their speed gradually, you get more consistent cooling and fewer temperature swings Because they can run at lower operating speeds, these systems run more quietly and won’t strain your home’s electrical systems by constantly powering on and off Longer operating cycles means more opportunities for your system’s air filters to clean the air being circulated, so you breathe in cleaner air. They consume less energy to cool your home than traditional air conditioners. If you have any other questions regarding your home’s air conditioning system, or any other heating, cooling, or home comfort products, contact us today. We’ll be more than happy to inspect your current cooling equipment and discuss how upgrading to a new, variable speed system can reduce your energy costs....

On Monday March 13, our Philadelphia Phillies were in spring training battle against the Baltimore Orioles under the Sarasota sun. Truth be told, it was overcast and drizzly, though still a comfortable 75°. Over at Citizens Bank Park? Not so much Philadelphia has been hit with the dreaded “wintry mix” and freezing temperatures. Did somebody say spring? Of course, it won’t always be so dismal. In fact, according to AccuWeather’s long-range projection, our area is looking at an entire July with temperatures pushing 90°. And though that sounds a lot more appealing than shoveling snow, you’re going to be wishing for a pinch of cool (if not a blizzard!) when those sticky, sweaty dog days of summer arrive. If only you’d thought about that A/C system back in March … consider this your reminder from the future! If you’ve ever thought of installing a new central air conditioning system or replacing an older one, there is no better time than now to start setting up a cool summer. For homes with existing ductwork and lots of open space, there’s no substitute for the complete comfort of a central air conditioning system. Central air conditioners are more efficient than room air conditioners, not to mention inconspicuous, quiet and simple to operate. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, modern energy-efficient units use up to 50 percent less energy to produce the same amount of cooling as air conditioners made in the mid-1970s, saving both energy and money. Even if your air conditioner is only 10 years old, you can still save 20-40 percent of your cooling energy costs by replacing it with a newer, more efficient model. F.C. Haab is proud to offer ENERGY-STAR®-rated units from respected manufacturers like Bryant and Carrier, built to the highest quality standards. Contact us for a cooling system consultation, and set yourself up for summer savings!...

How would you like to cut both your fuel bills and the emissions output of your heating system? And do so while enjoying more consistent, reliable heat? Who wouldn’t? The path could be as simple as a boiler upgrade! According to the U.S. Department of Energy, installing energy efficiency upgrades and a new high-efficiency heating system can cut your fuel bills and system emissions up to 50%. Upgrading from an old boiler with a 56% efficiency rating to a modern unit with a 90% efficiency rating can save an average oil-heated cold-climate home 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. If your boiler is old, worn out, inefficient or significantly oversized, the simplest path to savings is to replace it with a modern high-efficiency model. F.C. Haab is proud to sell, install and service ENERGY STAR®-rated oil-fired boilers from top manufacturers like Burnham, Columbia and Peerless. These boilers bring reliable warmth and smooth, quiet operation to any home, business or apartment building. BURNHAM: Burnham has produced steam and hot water boilers for commercial and industrial applications since 1873. Today, the company offers the broadest range of oil-fired boilers in the industry. Burnham's V8 oil-fired boiler is designed for quiet operation while providing years of reliable and efficient service. The company’s MPO boiler, featuring an AFUE of 87%, is one of the most efficient and reliable boilers on the market today. COLUMBIA: Columbia has been building dependable, long-lasting boilers for more than 80 years. The company’s high-efficiency Casco Bay boiler uses a unique “three-pass” design that circulates the flue gases through the boiler three times to extract more heat from your fuel – putting it inside your home instead of up the chimney. PEERLESS Peerless cast iron boilers have been manufactured and sold in the United States since 1908. All Peerless boilers are made of durable and reliable cast iron. Cast iron hot water boilers can last 20 to 30 years, and many times even longer. Cast iron heats up very rapidly and takes a long time to cool, thus providing comfortable, efficient heating for your family. You won't hear them working but you'll feel it! And you’ll feel it again in your wallet when you see your monthly heating costs drop. If it’s a furnace that keeps your family warm, we install and upgrade those too! Contact F.C. Haab and experience a whole new world of cost savings, energy conservation and best-in-class comfort....

Clean indoor air makes your home a happier, healthier place to live, particularly if your household includes someone with respiratory issues. F.C. Haab can help purify your indoor air with filtration systems that work in conjunction with centralized heating and cooling systems. family-babysitter-tv-movie-media-night-indoors-33898611_xl.jpgWarm air heating systems and central air conditioning both move air throughout the home constantly. As such, they can play an important role in cleansing the indoor air when you add air filtration equipment to the system. We offer a range of air filtration systems that work with the centralized heating and/or cooling systems. They vary in terms of how they treat the air. Some filter out floating particles by size. Others use electrically powered filtration to destroy mold and other microorganisms. Our indoor air quality specialists can help you choose the best solutions for your situation. Here is a quick look at the various filtration options: Electro-static air filters rely on air stream and alternating layers of washable materials to create a static charge that helps particles stick to the filter. Media filters feature disposable pleated filter inserts which catch spores and bacteria before they exit your home’s central air ductwork. Electronic filters are highly thorough and effective, removing the smallest of particles, including airborne allergens such as cracked pollen. UV purification systems use UV light, which is deadly to mold, bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. A UV purification system purges circulated air as it passes through the HVAC system. UV filters are especially helpful in households where family members have respiratory allergies or asthma. To learn more or request an indoor air quality consultation, please contact us today....

F.C. Haab wants you to be cozy and comfortable all winter while conserving energy. Here are four steps to make your home exceptionally comfortable and save on energy. Request an equipment evaluation. An F.C. Haab heating expert will check your system and provide energy-saving advice or equipment recommendations. Customers tell us they are very pleased with the information they receive from a system evaluation. Upgrade your equipment. An advanced, electronically controlled heating system can reduce energy costs by up to 40 percent while making the home more comfortable. Have your heating system tuned up. A tune-up gets your system in peak operating condition, which typically improves heating efficiency by 5 percent while extending the life of the equipment. Every F.C. Haab service plan includes a tune-up. Protect your equipment with a service plan. F.C. Haab offers three service plan options so you can get exactly the level of protection you want against repair expenses. While we’re on the subject of efficiency, here are some more steps you can take to save energy and improve your comfort. Cover drafty windows. Use a heavy-duty, clear plastic sheet on a frame or tape clear plastic film to the inside of your window frames during the cold winter months. Make sure the plastic is sealed tightly to the frame to help reduce infiltration. Replace worn weather-stripping. Worn and torn weather-stripping around doors and windows creates drafts and lets in cold air. Homes lose heat around windows and doors, and these leaks often prompt people to turn up the heat. Eliminate drafts around electrical boxes. Remove the cover plates and fill gaps around the boxes with acrylic latex caulk or foam sealant. Place a foam gasket over the outlet or switch and replace the cover plate. Lock doors and windows. Notice how when you lock your windows, you can often feel them pushing together more tightly? It makes a difference on your heating bill. Invest in insulation. Get some inexpensive insulation, and cover up all those areas where heat might escape. To get help improving your home’s comfort and reducing your energy usage, please contact us today....

Last month, we told you about several of F.C. Haab’s “Home Remedies” for poor indoor air quality. Unfortunately, it’s a commonly held misconception that heating oil itself is bad for your air quality. The truth is that heating oil produces near-zero harmful emissions. Plus, F.C. Haab actually delivers cleaner, green blends that are even better for the air you breathe than conventional heating oil. But before we get into that, let’s backtrack and take a broader look at heating oil in the state of Pennsylvania. As of July 1, 2016, by law, all heating oil in the state can now contain no more than 500 parts-per-million (ppm) sulfur. This is a huge reduction, as the limit previously ranged from 2,000-5,000 ppm depending on the region of Pennsylvania. However, F.C. Haab and the city of Philadelphia actually go further in reducing heating oil’s sulfur content. All of the heating oil we deliver outside of the city contains at most 500 ppm sulfur, making it low-sulfur heating oil, and all of the heating oil we delivery within the city contains a maximum of 15 ppm, making it ultra-low sulfur heating oil. Since July 1, 2015, this latter limit has been the standard for all of Philadelphia. F.C. Haab is proud to supply our customers with low-sulfur and ultra-low sulfur heating oil, as studies have found that these fuels: Lower equipment maintenance needs Boost heating system efficiency Extend heating equipment life Reduce pollution from heating systems Improve the air quality of our neighborhoods You can learn more about the benefits of low-sulfur heating oil elsewhere on our website. If you’d like to begin receiving this clean, environmentally responsible energy source via our reliable automatic delivery service, just contact F.C. Haab or complete our residential credit application and we’ll get back to you shortly....

Living in or around Philadelphia comes with a number of perks, not least of which is quick and easy access to the City of Brotherly Love’s many fun outdoor attractions, from LOVE Park to Independence National Historical Park to Citizens Bank Park. Unfortunately, living in or around any city also usually means having to deal with the added pollution that can compound typical spring and summer air quality issues like high pollen counts and humidity levels. Fortunately, F.C. Haab, your complete home comfort company, offers a number of “home remedies” to help address your indoor air quality ailments. For homes with mold or mildew issues, a dehumidifier can help reduce the amount of excess moisture in your home’s air, thus eliminating the root cause of mildew and mold growth. Additionally, UV purification systems can purge your heating and air conditioning equipment of these harmful organisms. For Philadelphians with allergies, asthma or other respiratory conditions, an electronic air filter will remove even the smallest irritants, including the always-annoying cracked pollen. F.C. Haab also offers next-generation smart thermostats that allow you to control some air filters, humidifiers and other indoor air quality systems with your smartphone. To learn more about how you can improve your home’s indoor air quality, and breathe easier this summer and year-round, call 215-563-0800 or 610-688-6500 or contact F.C. Haab today....
